From TechCrunch, the most bloody amazing thing I’ve seen all week: An anonymous developer has come up with an iPhone-exclusive social network application that would allow users to see profiles of other iPhone users within a specific geographic range.
God bless 3G phones. They really do allow for the most wonderful technology.
Ok, so what’s next, do we think? With iPhone’s super shiny graphic interface, I can imagine that users (depending on privacy settings) will be able to click to text or call other ’friended’ users, and the app will have to incorporate instant uploads of photo and video, too… Say, the iPhone doesn’t do video, does it? Well, it’s right around the corner, I’m sure.
In fact, I think mobile social altogether is incredibly conducive to video. Instead of ’About Me’ and ’My Interests’ text blocks (so 2004!), why not an intro video and a couple clips showing you walking your pet goat, showing off your skills of a sk8r, etc.? Instead of a group of photos from your housewarming party, why not the stills plus a couple short vids of guests drunkenly serenading the new neighborhood or whatever people do at housewarming parties?
Now all we have to do is monetize it.

Yeah. I can’t see such a thing being ad-supported on a tiny mobile screen. UGC can’t really be branded, can it? So who pays for mobile social, and how? That’s the only real question left.
