The Online Habits of Children

My niece has had her own (waterproof, pink) computer since she was about four.

She’s been online for the past three years or so, and her exploits have been fun for the whole family. Who can forget the hippopotamus with noodles on his back? That was classic, kid-friendly gold. Beats Captain Kangaroo all to hell.

Anyhow, Disney (and presumably about 500 other child-focused commercial entities) have found a very sweet spot with integrating kids’ games and related IRL products, shows, and merchandise. Get a load of this kid chatting about the games…

Money! The shows never end! I remember being a kid and almost crying every time Pee-wee’s Playhouse ended, because I wouldn’t get to see him again until god only knew when. A week was a long time to a six-year-old. I would have loved to have some interaction with Pee-wee between fixes.
